SupportersSocialist Worker is a must for progressive people who want to keep in touch with popular movements for peace, justice and freedom here and worldwide. Tony Benn, Stop the War Coalition president
During the time we were in occupation we would have been lost without Socialist Worker. You gave us guidance, support, help and the media coverage that was so important. You brought sleeping bags and banners. Without all that, we wouldn't have survived the first few days. Without you, we wouldn't have got what we won. Elizabeth Boakye, Visteon worker
Given the ongoing economic crisis it is more important than ever for trade unionists to have up to date, accurate, information and serious analysis with which to counter myths perpetuated in the media about who is to blame for the recession and job cuts. Socialist worker carries both and I am happy to support the Appeal and urge others to do so as well. Mark Serwotka, PCS General Secretary
Without Socialist Worker to tell us the unvarnished truth, we would be condemned to survive on a diet of lies, fables, myths, illusions, fairy tales and outrageous fictions. Terry Eagleton

Socialist Worker's unique and alternative perspective plays a crucial role in voicing the concerns, hopes and fears of the marginalised in our society. Socialist Worker is a must read for anyone who's interested in changing the world, not just Britain . Hossam el-Hamalawy, Egyptian activist and blogger
As an Irish worker who has had my job stolen from me by the vulture capitalist company KPS and the Bank of America, I would urge workers to support the Socialist Worker Appeal. When we occupied Waterford Crystal in January and we issued an appeal for support, Socialist Worker activists were at the forefront in backing our cause. They helped to organise solidarity meetings, they helped to put us in contact with union activists and they carried our story in Socialist Worker. I gladly support their appeal. Donie Fell, Waterford Crystal Worker
I am supporting the Socialist Worker Appeal because the paper has consistently campaigned against racism and Islamophobia throughout my time as a student activist. They need our support to continue their good work. Assed Baig, President, Staffordshire University students' union
With a major economic crisis, and war and poverty stalking the globe, the role Socialist Worker plays today is a vital one. It is anti-capitalist and has an internationalist perspective. It can't do this without financial help. Given the amount of our money the government donated to the banks, without our consent, it might makes sense to invest some of what we have left in getting the rest back! Please give generously. Bernadette McAliskey
Socialist Worker has been fantastic throughout this campaign, one of the papers to tell it how it is. It has led the way with my story, no holds barred. It has set a standard with its honesty, its integrity and its ability to reach out to real people. Joe Glenton, soldier facing court-martial after speaking out against the war in Afghanistan
Socialist Worker is a no nonsense publication which has raised awareness of human rights abuses, police violence and death in custody cases in this country that a lot of media is turning a blind eye to. Our campaign for justice for Sean Rigg, who died in Brixton police station last year, looks to papers like this who continue to print the truth in the hope it will reach the masses—I hope this paper will soon be on the doorstep of every home in Britain . Samantha Rigg-David, Sean Rigg Justice and Change Campaign
The Socialist Worker has always been a significant voice on the left. Ken Loach
I work at a factory where hundrerds of jobs are to go in the name of profit. Socialist Worker fully supports our fight for jobs and carries all the news of workers in struggle across the country. It has been a valuable resource. Catharene, Diageo worker at Johnnie Walker
Before we occupied Vestas I had given up on the possibility of radical political change. Although I thought iwas needed, it seemed too much of a challenge. But having been through the occupation, with the support and solidarity from Socialist Worker that was so vital, I have now seen how as a group we are strong. I now have a reason to fight again. Ian Terry, Vestas occupier
Socialist Worker is an invaluable tool for building our movement, both in our workplaces and our colleges and universities. It's more important than ever that we support the paper and allow our message to spread during the crisis. Phemie Matheson, Glasgow Central College and NUS NEC
Socialist Worker has taught me a lot about historical and theoretical subjects. The Marxist analysis of the economy and the recession are particularly important in the current climate. – WE ARE GOING TO CHANGE THIS ONE! Amanda Logan, bus worker, North London
I support the Socialist Worker Appeal wholeheartedly. They fight for the oppressed when others turn their backs. Lemn Sissay
Socialist Worker has given very important coverage of the struggles by migrant workers. It has taken a clear position against blaming black Asian and migrant workers for the problems in society. We really need that sort of message. Clara Osagiede, Secretary of the RMT cleaners' grade
Socialist Worker has taught me a lot about working class history. The analysis carried in the paper of the economy and the recession are vital tools in the current period. Amanda Logan, bus worker, North London
When I first got involved in the anti war movement Socialist Worker played a key role in highlighting the lies around the war on terror. It was also one of the clearest voices against the constant attacks on the Muslim community. As my involvement in the movement has increased Socialist Worker has become a must read as it's the only place you get a real picture of the struggles taking place in society. It also plays an important part in helping to celebrate the victories these fight backs have resulted in. Nahella Ashraf, Chair, Manchester Stop the War
There is today nowhere else one can read consistent reporting of workers' struggles and of local community action. These have long been airbrushed out of mainstream journalism; here they sit side by side with searing commentary on the bigger and better known issues. This is a fine, rare contemporary broadsheet of the old school to be read, respected and valued considerably. Gareth Peirce, human rights lawyer
Support Socialist Worker! Further and Higher Education are under increasing attack and we need our paper to engage with students and workers are who are fighting back. Alison Gander, UCU NEC
I started reading the paper during the struggle against the Iraq war. Today, with the fascist BNP on the rise, Socialist Worker continues to be at the heart of our movement. It exposes the BNP for the fascist thugs that they are, whilst always giving excellent political leadership on how we can fight fascism. Sadia Jabeen, LMHR/UAF Midlands Regional Organiser
We're living at a time when our rulers are trying to manage the chaos that they created. A system of lending money and selling debt has resulted in the government tipping billions of our money into bankers' hands whilst employers say that they have to sack thousands of workers. This is the poor making the sacrifices so that the rich can stay rich. None of the mainstream media outlets show us this picture. Socialist Worker does, and it prints the stories of everyone who is fighting back against the inequality and cruelty that goes with the chaos. What's more, Socialist Worker exposes the lies used to justify the vicious wars our rulers are waging in Iraq and Afghanistan , and it is a crucial part of the fight against the fascists and their dangerous scapegoating tactics. Michael Rosen
